The team at Puttyfoot recently visited a wonderful recording studio owned by Pete Rowe on the outskirts of Swindon, set in a tranquil back water, this place is full of magic and creativity and retro coolness from the 70′s with fantastic analog kit. Darren and I were very much in our elements having so many amazing instruments and fascinating electronics to capture. Female Portrait Photography – Puttyfoot Studio, Swindon by Lisa Coleman

Yesterday I photographed a fellow photographer who also happens to be a good friend, it was a very special sitting, unusually I helped with the make up and hair, this was something I really enjoyed, it gave me time to talk and bond and look upon her lovely face and imagine how she will look under the studio lights. It is a little nerve wracking photographing a fellow photographer, but it is something I would like to do more of, I think the challenge and stress of wanting to produce something that is intimate yet characterful is what drives me, yet there is the child within me that looks to my peers to enjoy the images of them that I have created, it leaves me pondering is photography art, am I vulnerable too, that I look for confirmation that what I produce is considered good enough by my colleagues…. and yet I stop and pinch myself and remind myself that I do believe in my style and feel comfortable with these final images. Helen is enigmatic, charming, a little feisty and a very sensual and vivacious woman, I hope you agree this reflects within these few chosen portraits I share with you.

Art Prints Boats and The Coast

I have been working through some images I took from a recent trip to the coast with Darren, what a feast of colour and textures to enjoy, as I look through each image there is emotive provocation to recall the smell and sounds of the day, the faces we met and words we spoke and the silences we enjoyed as we sat beneath the trees watching the waves ebb and flow and the children run to and fro……. as I look through the images it is so easy to place myself back in the moment of relaxation and intoxication of senses that the seaside bestows with her bewitching embrace and with that memories from childhood tiptoe into my most recent memories, child hood laughter mixing with the echoes from those children who ran before me just two weekends ago….. this is the beauty of photography, it is a chance to tell a story, steal a moment and set it forever in print. There are quite a few images from our visit to Coryton Cove I would like to share but I shall not share the beach or the sands or the sunny sky, I have chosen to share this image I took of the boats which lay next to the fishermen’s huts, I decided not to include the fishermen in the shots because I wanted the viewer to imagine the face of the fishermen for themselves, it pleases me to think that when someone looks at my photography they are able to step into my story and add a few lines of their own…. Two Photographers by The Sea part 3

The final part of our little adventure, it has been hard to choose which images to share with you all, so much emotional attachment is with my images they are my memories and children of sorts….. I have quite a few other images I would have liked to have shared but the ones in this 3 part series are the ones which tug on my heart strings the most. I cant wait to go back again to our favourite hide aways, there is so much more I would have loved to have captured and as I look through my images I see so many more things I could have captured! Weston Supermare – Two Photographers & a weekend at the sea side part 2

So there we were at the end of our weekend away we decided to stop off at Weston Supermare just for an hour or so, I took several images just for the enjoyment of the scene and watching lovers and families enjoy themselves in the sunshine, it was getting nearer the time to head off home and our car would not start we were stuck on the sands waiting for the AA man to rescue us, secretly I was pleased as I wanted to continue taking images, I just did not want to go home, I love the coast the ocean it embraces my heart with a sense of freedom, a few images on this post from those extra stolen minutes I held onto tightly, perhaps our car knew how I was feeling and also was not ready to head for home! Clevedon Pier – Two Photographers by the Sea part 1

It was my birthday weekend last week and after a busy few months in our studio Darren and I took the opportunity to retreat to enjoy some time together and soak up some sunshine and of course a weekend of photography for leisure! Spending time with my husband just the two of us and our cameras is just pure indulgence for me. We visited Clevedon for the first time, we waited for the sun to set by 6.30 the dusk sky was beautiful, but subtle, we were not granted dramatic colours in the sky we had hoped for, perhaps she hid them away from us to lure us back into her arms for another visit, I am romantic and let my imagination run away with myself, Clevedon has an old world charm which certainly emphasised my mood, I certainly will be visiting this wonderful pier again. We also visited another little place in Devon we love another blog soon to show you the images from a lovely little cove, look out for my next posting

Floral Prints – Is it Art?

Darren and I have spent some of our day in puttyfoot studio working our magic with the romance of flowers, using our much favoured old 55mm lens dating back to 1974, I love the drama of the red, the danger of passion! Which pretty much sums up our love of photography, excitement, passion, our constant search to learn more, reach out and strive for excellence, our hearts race and beat to capture an image that gives us an almost shimmering feeling within, you see our work is viewed by us as not just a photograph that is a literal documentation of subject, when you buy one of our photographs you are buying a little piece of my heart and vision. I look forward to developing this series of flower images and cant wait to get back into the studio to engage with more colourful wonders of our world.
