Darren and I were pleased when artist Nigel R Mitchell said he was visiting the UK from his home in L.A. Nigel hails from Cheltenham and was once a successful young jockey, with friends in Swindon and the surrounding areas we were really pleased he took time during his busy schedule to come to our studio to tell us about his latest projects whilst in the UK. Not many people visit ours studio without getting in front of my camera so of course we took the opportunity to do a photo shoot, working with someone as talented as Nigel was a real privilege, not only is he a fantastic musician but a respected production designer too, working on movies, commercials and music videos, so I was feeling especially under pressure to produce shots I would be proud to show him.
We met a couple of years ago at Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham and have stayed in touch with him since, Nigel’s band Tunnelmental Experimental Assembly were a real breath of fresh air that year, engaging personalities that made sense of the intense music they were producing, there is a passion and raw honesty in the music and the man himself. Nigel is a fascinating, articulate and intelligent an artist who has worked for many years within the professional arts world, yet even with the wealth of experience he possess it seems to me he has not stood still, his creativity constantly evolving, the one lovely thing about him is that he is a down to earth bloke, there is a sincerity and warmth to his character that is captivating and solidly reassuring. Nigel filled us in on his new musical projects which essentially is dance music, we were thrilled to hear his unreleased creations whilst we were working with him at our studio. Tunnelmental Experimental Assembly are based in the UK from May – October 2012, you can find out more about how to work directly with Nigel by checking out his website: http://www.tunnelmental.com/t.e.a./UK_EUROPE_2012.html
