There are moments within music photography that are magical and make your stomach lurch and your heart overrun with intense emotions, a rush of clarity that some kind of enchantment is taking place, the music of Duke Special had exactly this affect on me, beautifully sublime songs, with eloquent intelligently emotive lyrics, I hear within Duke’s music echoes and gentle whispers of that same brilliance as Neil Hannon another musical genius and poet that I look up to. Duke Special stood out from the crowd with quality, integrity and pathways to stories within his music that demand to be heard, no, demand to be embraced. Of the whole weekend of Wychwood Festival it was Duke Special that ticked all the boxes, audible beauty on a grand scale, with notes that leave you hanging off the edge of a cliff top gazing towards the edge of the universe and what a warm visual delight too!
