Darren and I have had an exceptionally busy 12 months and finding time to take a break from our work has been hard to do, so when a weekend became available in our diary we looked at all the options, our favourite places, fond memories of the sea side with our children, but one thing pulled us most of all that was the feeling of missing home, the place where we grew up, the people and familiar haunts from our past. So we headed off to the Black Country, the place where we lived, learned about life, had success and made mistakes, the place where people we love still live, we decided to spend some valuable time with our parents which was a joy and a reminder we must make more time for our loved ones. Later on Saturday evening we popped over to the Beacon Hotel in Sedgley, if you have never been I will not spoil the surprise, I should advise booking a taxi, we hope you enjoy this little gem of a pub! The rest of the weekend was taken up with the amazing Black Country Museum, we had decided to visit over the weekend but on looking at their website we were pleased to see that the Vintage Car Rally was that very weekend, we hoped that an old friend would be showing his car at the rally as we have known him to do so over the previous years. On arrival the first thing we did was to look up those taking part in the rally to see if his name was on the list, it was a good feeling knowing that he was there, so we headed off through the spectacular grounds of the museum to find his car on display. We found the car but not the man himself so we headed off to take our spot to view the rally, the cars, buses and bikes of fine craftsman from the vehicle industry of the Black Country were on their best form, it was emotional to see them in such glory and lovingly cared for. With such a superb variety of vintage transport on display it has been hard to choose which images to show in this blog, hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed taking them, if you get chance do visit the museum and take time to seek out the Beacon Hotel, in this crazy world we live in we need to make more time for loved ones, but for us quality time will always include our cameras 🙂
