Darren and I were proud to be asked to create an image to create an image for Swindon The Opera, a branding that would help to echo and illustrate the story written by Matt Fox; the opera is a brand new project which is funded by the Lottery. The opera will tell the story of Swindon’s relationship with culture and it’s evolution over the past 60 years. I am particularly excited about the project, the first time I heard of it’s possibility was when I interviewed Matt Fox on the Art to Art show on Swindon 105.5 a community radio station almost a year ago, how amazing it feels to play a small part in this unfolding magical journey of arts within Swindon by being involved in some small way, helping to create this image with my husband Darren. This really promises to be a fantastic project, involving people of Swindon, the story is written by Matt who has created an intriguing story line, ” The story centres around a fictional Swindon family, the Eveleys and their highs and lows over the past 60 years”, the music composed by Betty Roe MBE and the opera will be produced by Swindon’s only vocal education charity the JTP Trust. This a bold statement about the people, relationships and culture of Swindon over the last few decades to the present day, the opera will take place at Swindon Steam Museum in July 2012. Creating the promotional image for the opera Darren and I took our influence and direction from the writer Matt Fox, he came to us with a concept and we chatted about key things to include within the image, the list was large and varied, so we tried to drill down to a handful of key factors to bring together the recipe of the branding for Swindon The Opera. Each element was photographed separately and brought together graphically by Darren Coleman, we are very grateful for the use of the library image from the Swindon Town FC archive from the 1968 – 1969 League Cup, the clubs first major cup win.
