This past weekend I worked with a client that wanted to create something a little on the 50’s style, something classic and chic but with an updated edge. Whilst working through editing the images I found myself struggling to choose black and white over colour, I had anticipated that I would favour black and white for this shoot, but with her hair colouring and beautiful eyes and skin I have surprised myself in favouring colour. It is hard to choose the final selection from a shoot when I have exceeded my own expectations of successful outcome that qualified by standard and that I would want to show the world. Here are two of those images I wonder what you think?
However the image below is an exception from this session, I prefer it in black and white, it can be quite a thoughtful time consuming emotional journey just as I look through selecting how to edit an image, but enjoyable too!
Hi Helen I do like desaturated images but I really dont like images with selected colour within monochrome. I am a huge fan of old movies and collect old movie magazines I think does influence my compositions and emotions with my subjects 😀
Thank you for following x
As you know I often favour B&W when I look at your potraits but I think I agree with you on this one. definitely the colour. I wonder did you try something in between? a sort of sepia?
